sarah + slawo’s engagement | morley field, ca

Sarah and Slawo (pronounced with a “V”) are our newest La Vida Couple to be featured here on ye olde blog. They are kind, compassionate and fun people who are getting married up in Cabrillo Park later this month. We were stoked to provide them with a fun mini-engagement session before the big day, and since they both love nature hikes, we found a great little spot nestled between the 163 freeway and Balboa Park!

As most of you know, Betsy and I have a strong love in our hearts for Germany. We have been over there a few times, and what we have always found is that the people there are super-friendly and fun-spirited! We had a great time talking to Slawo about our travels to München and where he and his family grew up (near the Black Forest in southwestern Germany). I really wanted to speak German with him, but I was a bit timid as my German is pretty much limited to „Wie gehts?” (What’s up?) and „Wo ist mein bier?” (Where is my beer?) Handy phrases for sure, but not so helpful when trying to have a real conversation.

Slawo is finishing up his doctorate in astrophysics (focusing on X-Ray emissions from distant stars), and Sarah is a Jellyfish Wrangler. You heard me! When I first read their initial couples’ questionnaire, she listed “Jellyfish Wrangler” as her occupation. I totally thought she was being funny until I asked her about it. She volunteers at the Birch Aquarium where she literally wrangles jellyfish when they need to be moved for any reason. I would vote that as the Best Title Ever in the History of Ever!

The way that Sarah falls into the shoulder of her man is so lovely.

Love this winding path!

These two are exchanged lots of sweet glances and plenty of laughter, which is awesome

*boop!*

Sarah and Slawo, we had a great time getting to know you both, and we look forward to sharing your most special day with you! Auf Wiedersehen! (See? I know one more phrase in German!)
