Beachside Engagement Shoot

Rachel and Andrew chose California’s gorgeous Central Coast for their engagement photos – a location that is very special to them both. Not only is it their favorite spot for a weekend getaway, it is also where Andrew proposed.

Tatyana Lee from The Lees Photography shared a bit of their story with us. Apparently, last summer, Andrew kept making a big deal about how hot it was and how much he wanted to escape for a weekend, so Rachel and Andrew planned a weekend getaway for the coast. Little did Rachel know it was one that she would never forget. A few nights before their departure, Andrew packed a secret overnight bag and booked a hotel in Cambria. They arrived, checked into their hotel and Rachel was none the wiser about Andrew’s plans. While wine tasting at one of their favorite wineries, Andrew proposed. Standing under a large oak tree, Andrew kissed Rachel and asked her to marry him. She said yes! Enjoy these photos from Rachel and Andrew’s engagement shoot by The Lees Photography.

An Engagement Under the Stars

Kristen and Nick knew they wanted an engagement photo location that was a bit off the beaten path. Their location of choice was Lone Pine, CA. The couple wanted a shoot with the mountains in the background since they both love hiking and camping. And as an added bonus, being so far from the city lights, the stars would be a sight not to miss. Sure enough, the long trip to Lone Pine paid off. Their photographer, Elmer Escobar of TNK Photo, was able to catch some striking photos of them under the stars and cuddled up in the back of their SUV as they’ve done many times before.

Going Somewhere Beautiful Together: A Travel Engagement Shoot

Mike and Drew’s engagement shoot just had to include their two favorite things – their cute pups and their love for travel. This fun engagement shoot took place in a rural park setting at the golden hour of sunlight. Their love of travel is shown with photo props such as a vintage luggage set, passports, and a map. They had fun with some cute shots using these accents. Their two dogs didn’t have to do much to look cute for the photos. They both seemed pretty happy just being there with Mike and Drew. Stacy at SMS Photography in Austin, Texas captured this couple’s engagement beautifully. Thanks for sharing this engagement shoot with us, Stacy!

Desert Botanical Wedding

In the desert, the temperature is hot and this styled shoot from a talented team of Arizona wedding vendors is even hotter. Ariel Miles Photography and The Botanical Studio teamed together to create this modern desert wedding. Every element of this style shoot is perfectly matched with the desert surroundings. The muted hues used in the color palette fit perfectly with the elements of the desert; soft greens, silver grays, golden wheat, and splashes of apricot play well off of the copper and rose gold metals used in the geometric arch and copper metal chairs. Even the bride’s gorgeous makeup picks up warm brown and copper tones. Her wedding dress is an elegant plunging v-neck style with a perfectly matched long train. Every detail from the table settings to the desert flower and geometric shape invitations fit into the theme – not to mention the cactus and geode themed cake – perfection!

Black Wedding Cakes

Using the color black in your wedding palette adds drama and elegance to the event, and if you are using the color, consider throwing a curve to your cake design by incorporating black for a very unique touch. Black wedding cakes are unexpected, inquisitive, and very elegant. They can be modern with contemporary elements, they can be elegant with lace accents, or artistic with bold colorful touches. Displayed below is a collection of some of our favorite black wedding cakes.

Mixing black with gold adds glitz and glam and would be the perfect cake for a New Years Eve wedding. The cake above with the red flower is a dramatic design for a black wedding cake with a dusting of red metallic glitter for a dramatic and artistic effect that ties nicely with the red orchid cake topper. The last two cakes picture above show the use of blank fondant to cover the cakes completely which adds an elegance to their overall design. The floral elements are the perfect finishing touch.
